Right after our clementine picking trip, we went to climb mount Takao. Mount Takao is perhaps the closest mountain from Tokyo. It is about 40 minutes train ride from Shinjuku, downtown Tokyo. It is a good start for a mountain climbing beginner like myself, since it takes only about an hour to hour and a half to the mountain.
Taking a trip is never the same when you have a child with you as when you are single.. Unlike our clementine picking trip where we planned it around Kiko’s schedule, this trip did not go well at all. Although we look pretty happy in the pictures above, the reality was not as pleasant. We took a stroller, and ended up carrying all the way up to the top. We were misinformed that this is a mountain that kindergarden kids go as their school trip, and totally underestimated Ms. Kiko’s ability to climb the mountain.
On top of the fact that Andy had to carry Kiko and I had to carry the strawler, Kiko pooped while we were climbing and it started raining. We ran up to the mountain just so that we can get back down with the cable car.
