I met Taren back in 2011 at the Etsy Event, LOVE handmade in Ginza. I was having a booth there and Taren stopped by with her friends. We started to talk, and it turned out that we both have the same age child. From then on, we slowly started hanging out more, even involving our husbands and sometimes kids. Taren is the owner of Oslo & Alfred, a shop full of lovely illustrations. For my SS2013 collection, I asked Taren if she would like to collaborate to create a dress, her creating the fabric design and me making a dress using it. I had a chance to ask her the inspiration behind the design and show you her work space pictures. Here is Taren!
~ I designed the Oslo & Alfred Feather fabric with cute dresses and skirts in mind. The image of soft feathers on a skirt came to me one night while I was getting ready for bed. I get so many ideas when I am not expecting them. I feel blessed to have these ideas and pictures pop up in my mind. It validates my desire to work in a creative field. Because of my faith as a Christ follower, I thank God for the new ideas that seem to come to me effortlessly. He has provided the opportunity for me to pursue what I love and I am incredibly grateful. Designing fabric and textiles has been a wonderful way to express myself. Then to have Vivat Veritas complete the vision by making an adorable dress is like seeing your dreams become a reality. I am blessed by our collaboration and I hope we can continue to make stylish contributions to all the fashionistas out there! ~

I loved the feather dress collaboration, so it’s fun to hear from the other half of that partnership! Taren’s prints are super cool!
