It’s hard to stay organized with ever-increasing sewing and craft supplies. I’ve been trying to utilize my limited space as wisely as possible. I feel like I spend as much time putting stuff back in order or in its original place as sewing itself. The small space gets overcrowded very quickly if I get lazy. Still, my sewing space shows a vast improvement compared when I first started shop on my dining table back in 2008. I used to keep all my fabrics in a trash bag, and stuffed it in my small closet in our small Philly apartment. How do you stay organized with your sewing supplies?

Dear Chie,
i’ve been reading and admiring your blog for quite a while, i love seeing your beautiful work, it’s very inspiring. I just had to leave you a comment today because i can really relate to sewing in a super small space. I run my little bag shop and do all my sewing in the corner of my very small bedroom that i share with my boyfriend. while over the years we come to saw we live in the corner of the room and most of it is for sewing… : ). I’m constantly rearranging and reorganizing to try and use the little space better. i have quite a few shelves hung on my walls to create more surface space. A day doesn’t go by that i dream of a room only for sewing.
you and your shop are such an inspiration to me

How do I organise my sewing stuff? Answer: with great difficulty. I am always seeking new ideas for storage. I have a cake stand full of sewing stuff and have recently organised my fabric (at last), it used to be stuffed in a washing basket, then stuffed on to shelves, which fell down every time I was looking for something, arggg.
It is good to try and get organised, at least things are easier to find, but it is no fun tidying up!
