Hello! June 23 was Etsy Craft party, and we had one in Suidobashi, Tokyo. It was held in a small studio about five-minutes walk from Korakuen, which is a big amusement park. Taren of Oslo and Alfred and I went together. Taren and I met at one of the Etsy events in Ginza about a year and a half ago, and we’ve been good friends since then. This time, a photographer from Austin, Texas, Sarah Eiseman joined. Sarah found Taren on Instagram and contacted her to go to the party together. It is so funny how people from all over the world can be connected via the internet. Sarah is super friendly and fun, and she has been traveling all around Asia for the past three months and Japan is her final destination before she heads back to the U.S. Taren (left) and Sarah (right).
Mariko of frumafar (left) and me. She is a textile designer. She and two other designers run frumafar.
It was a fun event, and I am thrilled to have met some new craftsy people. Although not pictured here, Angela Salisbury of Tokyo Craft Guide (She launched an ebook, more here)was there, and we talked about doing a Tokyo meetup sometime in the future. Anyone interested? Perhaps in Nippori fabric district?
