Today, I have Rina Tanaka guest posting. Rina has been helping me with some sewing. I hope you enjoy her post! Here is Rina:
Hello! My name is Rina. This is my first time to post a on Vivat Veritas. I love sewing, and am going to help Vivat Veritas as a seamstress. I’m so happy to be able to participate with Chie and share ideas on the blog! Thank you so much for giving me the chance, Chie.
As my first entry, let me tell you that I have a dog, a Yorkshire terrier. He got a trim last week, he looks great… but looks cold sometimes. You can find dog clothes at pet shops, on the Internet anywhere really, but most of them are too decorative and expensive. So I decided to make his clothes. Simple, cute, cheap!
I cut out my well-worn cotton T-shirt. Please choose stretch fabric. Sew * to *. Cut fabric scrap as bias, and join them to make bias tape. Then, attach the bias tape around the cut fabric. Attach hook and loop fastener (easier to wear than snap) at the center at last. Hopefully it will all make sense. If there are any questions, please leave a comment below. Thank you for reading! Enjoy sewing.

Love your wee dog. I have been considering making our little maltese/chihuahua his own clothes. I’ve found a pattern on the internet but haven’t yet had time to make it up. You have inspired me to put this up my sewing list.

Thank you so much, Sandra. Maltese and chihuahua, I love them! It’s so nice of you to say that.

Oh, wow, what a great tutorial! I’m seriously excited to try this out… my husband will be so embarrassed to walk the dogs with me, though, once they’re wearing awesome t-shirts! 😀

Haha:) I don’t remember, is it common in the U.S. for pets to wear clothes? In Japan, we see a lot!

Hi Rina
Where can I buy that tool to make bias tape and what do you call that tool? What is it you use for buttons? Velcro? or some kind of hook? Thank you so much for all your help. The doggy outfit you make is amazing!!!! Thank you so much. These are so expensive and I could make them out of old baby clothes for way less.
Charline 🙂
