I recently read this post over on Nette’s blog about making your own fabric using ink and a stamp pad that could be used on fabrics and can withstand washing. After reading her post, my imagination went crazy and I could not fall a sleep for another hour because of the excitement..I’m not exaggerating! How wonderful is it to be able to create your own print fabric?! I love kitschy, quirky prints. Especially animal prints like crabs, cats, puppies etc. After further online search, I found this stamp pad, called Fabrico by VersaCraft. According to the item description, the fabric can be washed after you stamp and iron it. They have tons of color variations, and small stamp pads only cost 200yen (about 2.50USD) each!

I’m so excited to make my own fabrics..has anyone had experience in doing something similar? I hope it really works and the fabric is durable for multiple machine washes!

Oh, I am so glad to have been able to inspire you Chie! 🙂 Actually, I am currently working on another printed fabric. This time a design of my own! Hopefully, I will finish it by the weekend. I can give you the hint, that it has an autumn theme. I am so curious to see what you are going to make! xoxo nette

aww im so excited to see what you are working on! were you able to wash fabric in a washer?
nette says
I washed it only once yet and there seems to be no problem. I will let you know how it turned out after several washings. xoxo

I’ve stamped my own fabric several times. I never thought there would be stamp pads and inks made for fabric and washing.
I just took a piece of leftover fleece fabric and soaked it in fabric paint. That way I can use the same paints I use for stenciling. And I only buy primary colors and mix the rest. It works great!

silky,
sounds like a great idea! did you use fleece fabric as a base for stamp? i think there are so many fun things we can do with paint and fabrics!!
Silky says
No, I cut it up in little squares and used them as stamp pads. I just dabbed paint on them until they were fully saturated. I then use regular rubber or foam stamps to stamp on cotton fabric.
